Congratulations to our most recent Public Safety graduates! We are proud of your hard work and accomplishments. UTPD Sergeant Travis Johnson earned a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from UT Chattanooga.


Congratulations to our most recent Public Safety graduates! We are proud of your hard work and accomplishments. Ahmad Mitoubsi, a laboratory safety specialist in UT Environmental Health and Safety, graduated with a Master of Public Health from UT Knoxville.


As you wrap up the spring semester and prepare for summer break, I want to remind you of tips and resources for your personal safety.


Congratulations to our most recent Public Safety graduates! UTPD Corporal John Platt earned a Master of Business Administration from UT Chattanooga.


For eight years, K9 Tica has used her trusty sniffer to help keep Rocky Top safe. That’s 272 basketball games, 240 concerts, meets, and special events, and 192 football-related activities for the explosives detection dog. On March 28, K9 Tica will add another name to her title: retiree of the UT Police Department.


UTPD Deputy Chief Emily Simerly has received a scholarship to attend a national management and leadership training program for senior level police staff. The intensive 10-week Northwestern University School of Police Staff and Command aims to strengthen and deepen leadership at law enforcement agencies around the country.


UTPD officers have spent the week examining their perceptions, stereotypes and cultural assumptions as a way to better communicate with and serve all members of the Volunteer community. The new three-day certification training program, offered by the UT Law Enforcement Innovation Center, is designed to increase their cultural competency and reduce biased-based policing.


The university is upgrading VolCards and the way buildings are electronically secured to improve physical security on campus.
