Training and Technical Services is responsible for most of the behind-the-scenes activity that keeps the UTPD running.
Training
Police officers are required by state law to receive forty hours of in-service training each year to maintain their certification. UTPD officers receive eighty hours of training yearly—more than twice the state mandate. UTPD officers also receive specialized training throughout the year in addition to the eighty hours of in-house training.
Uniforms and Equipment
UTPD equips its officers with almost everything they will need to perform their duties as a police officer. From uniforms and ballistic vests to traffic flashlights and reflective vests, all of this equipment is purchased through Training and Technical Services. The UTPD is dedicated to ensuring its officers and other uniformed staff are issued quality, reliable equipment.
