Physical Security team grows, meet the new members at UT

With the continuous growing needs of Physical Security at the University of Tennessee-Knoxville, Physical Security Director, Charles Messenger is building his team.

Messenger is full steam ahead, now with a Central Alarm Manager, Lead Physical Security Technician, and another Technician.

Meet the Team:

Abigayl Stephenson– Central Alarm Manager: Her role is to maintain the scheduling for electronic access across campus. She also deals with a variety of vendors as well as access control programming needs. She spent five years working in telecommunications at the University of Tennessee Police Department, before taking on this new role. When she isn’t at work she spends time with her dog Nova, as well as baking or traveling.

Seth Allen– Lead Physical Security Technician: His role is not only to manage additional technicians, but to provide training and guidance relative to proper use of installed physical security equipment across campus. As well as helping correct and report any issues with equipment related to access control. Seth has worked in the physical security sector for the past 16 years with state contracts in higher education in Florida. When he’s not working, he is usually hiking or playing disc golf.

John Anderson– Physical Security Technician: His role is to complete the service and repair of access control and central alarm system components on campus. He has spent the last three years working in the physical security sector for banks. When he’s not working, he loves to grill and try all things barbeque.

“I am thrilled to have a well-rounded team, not only full of knowledge and experience in the Physical Security sector, but all driven to achieve any task we face,” said Physical Security Director, Charles Messenger. “With the latest guidance from the Tennessee Higher Education Commission, we will continue to work on supervising and advising all security upgrades and needs across the campus.”

You may very well see members of the Physical Security Team around campus working in a variety of buildings, so feel free to welcome them to Rocky Top.
