An Emergency Checklist
Whether you are a student or a staff member, live hundreds of miles away or just around the corner, you should have certain information readily accessible and take certain precautions.
- Carry with you at all times emergency medical information including: lists of any medical conditions; prescription medications; health insurance; family doctor and hospital information; and whom to notify about you in the event of an emergency.
- All family members should carry this information with them. In the case of students, they should share this information with their roommates, close friends and resident assistants.
- Students need to set aside emergency travel money; it should be enough for gas money to get you home and cover the cost of a hotel room if needed.
Students should determine ahead of time how they will make contact or meet with their family in the event of a severe storm or other natural disaster.
