Reporting a Crime

Get to a safe place as soon as possible. Call 911 or 974-3111, or find the nearest Blue Light Phone to contact UTPD.

If you have been injured, seek medical attention. UTPD can transport assault victims to the hospital.

Reporting an incident is separate from making the decision to prosecute. Filing a report does not obligate a victim to continue with legal proceedings or university disciplinary action.

Seek counseling and other support. Being a victim can take an emotional toll on anyone. Students or employees should seek healthcare and counseling on campus or with a personal physician. In dealing with issues of sexual assault, contact the Safe Haven, a crisis and recovery center for sexual assault. During business hours, Safe Haven can be reached at 558-9040, or 24 hours a day on their crisis line at 522-2373 (toll-free (888) 522-5244).
