Prevent Fires
Keep all hallways clear of boxes, bicycles, and other large objects so that people can get to the exits as quickly as possible.
Make yourself familiar with the nearest exit from your residence hall room or office, and then plan a second path of exit in the event the first is blocked.
If you must smoke, do so only in designated smoking areas outside the building. Always use smoking receptacles provided outside campus buildings. If you have questions about this, contact your resident assistant, building supervisor, or immediate supervisor.
Use only power cord strips with surge protectors. Do not use old extension cords in residence halls or any campus buildings.
Never tamper with smoke detectors. Never knowingly cause a false fire alarm.
